KonoSuba Season 4 Confirms 2027 Release and Another Studio Change
Kazuma and his spectacularly dysfunctional party finally have a return window, but their next adventure will arrive with another production handoff behind the scenes. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 4 is officially scheduled to begin broadcasting in 2027. The announcement was accompanied by an ultra-teaser visual, returning cast details and confirmation that ENGI will take over animation production from Studio Drive. An exact premiere date or seasonal window has not yet been announced.
The update arrived during the anime’s 10th-anniversary celebrations on July 26, 2026. A commemorative video revisited the franchise’s animated history while introducing the next television chapter, giving longtime viewers their clearest look yet at how Season 4 is being assembled.
ENGI Becomes KonoSuba’s Latest Animation Studio
ENGI’s involvement represents another major studio change for the fantasy-comedy franchise. Studio Deen produced the first two television seasons, while J.C.Staff animated the 2019 film KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson. Drive later handled the Megumin-focused spin-off An Explosion on This Wonderful World! and the main series’ third season. Season 4 will therefore be the third main-series studio era and the fourth animation company to work on a significant KonoSuba project.
Studio changes naturally attract attention in anime fandom, particularly when a series is known for a highly recognizable visual rhythm. KonoSuba depends heavily on exaggerated expressions, deliberately chaotic movement and comic timing that makes the characters’ failures feel as important as their victories. The company name, however, tells only part of the production story.
Several Longtime KonoSuba Staff Members Are Returning
Despite the move to ENGI, much of the franchise’s creative foundation remains intact. Takaomi Kanasaki returns as chief director, with Makoto Uezu overseeing series composition and Koichi Kikuta continuing as character designer. Yoshikazu Iwanami remains sound director, while Masato Koda returns to compose the music. Manabu Kurihara will direct the new season, replacing Season 3 director Yujiro Abe. Season 3 was produced by Drive under Kanasaki’s chief direction, with Uezu and Kikuta already occupying the same central writing and design positions they will hold for the 2027 installment.
That continuity could be more important than the studio switch itself. The returning team already understands the unusual balance that defines KonoSuba: it is an isekai adventure with fantasy stakes, but its appeal comes from characters who regularly undermine the heroic roles assigned to them. A new production company may influence scheduling, animation resources and individual episode teams. Keeping several of the franchise’s major creative figures involved, however, gives Season 4 a clear connection to what came before.
Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Darkness Will Return
The four principal Japanese voice actors are also returning. Jun Fukushima will once again voice Kazuma, alongside Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin and Ai Kayano as Darkness. Additional confirmed cast members include Sayuri Hara as Luna, Ayaka Suwa as Chris, Yui Horie as Wiz, Masakazu Nishida as Vanir and Aki Toyosaki as Yunyun. Tetsu Inada also returns as Ruffian.
The ultra-teaser visual shows Kazuma’s four-person party from behind under a message translated as “Let’s set out on a new adventure.” It reveals little about the story, but deliberately centers the group chemistry that has carried the anime since its 2016 debut. The anniversary video also features a newly rearranged version of “fantasticdreamer,” Machico’s opening theme from the first season. The musical callback strengthens the announcement’s mix of nostalgia and forward movement.
What Is Still Unknown About Season 4
The production committee has not revealed a detailed synopsis, episode count, opening and ending performers or an international streaming partner. No full trailer has been released, and the announcement only places the broadcast somewhere within 2027. Season 4 was formally confirmed during the franchise’s anniversary campaign after a new sequel had previously been announced following the Bonus Stage OVA project. The latest update moves the series from a general production announcement to a defined release year, but several major details are still being saved for later.
For fans, the immediate conversation will focus on how ENGI handles the franchise’s elastic comedy and whether the new director can preserve its established energy. The returning cast and senior creative staff provide stability, while the studio change introduces enough uncertainty to make the first trailer especially important. KonoSuba Season 4 now has a destination. The next test will be showing viewers what this newest version of Kazuma’s chaotic adventure actually looks like in motion.
