Montréal Producer Jacques Greene Announces Club-Focused Album jg

Jacques Greene has spent much of his career capturing what happens around the dance floor: anticipation, intimacy, emotional release and the strange quiet that follows a long night out. His next album aims directly at the room itself. The Montréal producer has announced “jg,” his third solo studio album and first since 2019’s Dawn Chorus. The 11-track project will arrive on October 16, 2026, through LuckyMe, accompanied by the newly released lead single “Presence.” The album is being presented as Greene’s most unapologetically club-focused full-length to date.

“Presence” Introduces a More Physical Jacques Greene

“Presence” immediately establishes the album’s dance-floor intentions. Built around bass-heavy two-step rhythms, clipped vocal elements and Greene’s characteristically luminous production, the track balances physical momentum with the emotional detail that has long separated his music from more functional club records.

The single suggests that “jg” will not abandon the softness, longing and atmosphere associated with Greene’s earlier work. Instead, those qualities are being placed inside sharper rhythmic structures designed to move through speakers and bodies with greater force. That distinction matters. Greene’s 2017 debut, Feel Infinite, explored the communal promise of club culture, while Dawn Chorus often felt concerned with the emotional space surrounding the party. “jg” appears to reverse the perspective, bringing the listener closer to the immediate energy of the dance floor.

“jg” Features Ouri, CFCF, umru and DJ BORING

Collaboration sits at the center of the album. DJ BORING appears on opener “Closer,” while Montréal multi-instrumentalist Ouri and singer-songwriter Jonah Yano join Greene on “Seconds.” The tracklist also includes SAM-E, SEES00000, CFCF, umru, crushed and Sølv. Greene has explained that the guest list developed through genuine personal and creative relationships rather than a calculated effort to assemble recognizable names. That approach makes the project feel less like a conventional producer album and more like a map of the community surrounding his recent work.

Several pieces of that map were visible before the album announcement. “What You Say,” Greene’s collaboration with umru, was released in May after being created during a fast-moving studio session in Montréal. Greene described the track as a burst of energy that continued inspiring him long after it was recorded. “Closer,” featuring DJ BORING, followed in July and now serves as the album’s opening track. Those singles, together with “Presence,” indicate that jg will move across different shades of club music rather than commit to one rigid tempo or subgenre.

Jacques Greene Returns to Solo Album Mode

Although “jg” is Greene’s first solo album in seven years, he has remained active through EPs, singles, DJ performances and collaborative projects. In 2025, Greene and Los Angeles producer Nosaj Thing released their self-titled debut as Verses GT. That project was created across cities including Montréal, Los Angeles, London, Paris and Tokyo, emphasizing restraint, atmosphere and the trust developed between two longtime collaborators. “jg” appears to carry some of that collaborative openness into a more extroverted setting. Where Verses GT often invited listeners inward, Greene’s new solo record is designed to create an immediate shared experience. The title reinforces that sense of directness. By naming the album after his own initials, Greene strips away the poetic framing of previous projects and presents the music as a concentrated statement of identity. The lowercase styling also fits the understated visual language that has followed the Jacques Greene project throughout its evolution.
