Rita Ora And Cardi B get Freaky in new Video "Girls"
Rita Ora shared the video for "Girls", her new single starring Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX. The clip, directed by Helmi, features many women, including Charli, Rita, and a holographic-looking Cardi, who kisses Rita. (The chorus of the song repeats: "Sometimes I just want to kiss girls, girls, girls.")
We have to admit, however, it's a nice piece of work, with Rita appearing all glittering in the clip alongside Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX.
The video is a beautiful staged, which reveals Ora on an Amazonian-type island surrounded by women resembling her. As Rita sings, women dressed in nude lingerie and sporting Ora's characteristic brown and blonde hair lounging around her. It is only when Rita's co-stars arrive that the visual plunges into surrealism. Charli XCX roams a black jungle, Rexha is trapped in a funhouse mirror, and Cardi is a rapper hologram in a futuristic landscape.
"Girls" has been controversial over its May 11th unveiling. Hayley Kiyoko said the song had "a message that is just downright deaf, which is more harm than good for the LGBTQ + community". Kehlani even tweeted that "Girls" has "a lot of clumsy insults, quotes and moments that sounded like" word ".
In response, Rita Ora issued a statement: "'Girls' written to represent my truth, and is an accurate account of a very real and honest experience in my life." Cardi B also defended the track. "We never try to hurt or have bad intentions with the song," she tweeted. "I personally had experiences with other women, shiieeett with a lot of women! I thought the song was a good song, and I remember my experience."
