As part of his ongoing Intermission series, the seven-track EP functions as another chapter in a personal timeline, capturing a period of uncertainty through cryptic songwriting and a fluid blend of Alternative Rock, Alt-R&B, folk, shoegaze, electronica, and dream-pop influences. Rather than relying on conventional hooks, the project builds its identity through atmosphere, where reverberation, restrained instrumentation, and spacious arrangements become emotional devices. The result is a record that feels deliberately overcast, preserving fleeting thoughts instead of attempting to resolve them, while quietly hinting that brighter chapters may eventually follow.
From a production perspective, Intermission: Currently is carefully layered despite its minimalist tendencies. Reverb is the defining architectural element, often extending beyond the vocals to the percussion itself, creating an immersive, fog-like soundstage that occasionally sacrifices clarity in favor of mood. Intermission: Currently succeeds because it treats production as emotional architecture rather than decoration. Every layer of reverb, every restrained instrumental choice, and every spacious mix decision contributes to a coherent sonic environment that mirrors the uncertainty embedded within the songwriting. Although a few moments would benefit from greater vocal definition and slightly more restrained ambience, the EP's identity remains remarkably cohesive throughout. Jivenya demonstrates an instinct for building immersive soundscapes that prioritize feeling over immediacy, making this project an engaging listen for audiences drawn to atmospheric Alternative Rock, dream-pop, and modern Alternative R&B. More importantly, it serves as a convincing midpoint in an evolving artistic timeline, leaving listeners curious about the brighter destination the series promises next.
