SOZI’s New EP "DREAM" Turns Disco Glow Into Philosophy on the Dance Floor
Like a disco comet streaking across an L.A. midnight, SOZI has released her EP “DREAM,” a four-song reverie that turns the glamour of summer into philosophy you can dance to. The Los Angeles singer-songwriter, producer, and engineer (Sofia Zorian) frames desire, illusion, and the jolt of awakening in sleek, prismed textures—altogether a second chapter in her Seasons Project that glows with autonomy. Indeed, DREAM is entirely self-written, produced, and co-engineered by SOZI, with Cameron Taylor joining on mixing and mastering, and it sounds as confident as that pedigree implies.
The musicality is diamond-cut: satin synth pads, mirror-ball bass flickers, and kicks that land like decisive footsteps on a neon sidewalk. Moreover, SOZI’s vocal is both lens and light source—glittering on the surface, human at the core—delivering hooks that sparkle even as the lyrics look you straight in the eye.
A swift tour of the mirage:
“Superstar.” A disco-laced opener where adulation tastes sweet then slightly metallic; strings shimmer, bass purrs, and the topline weds euphoria to self-reckoning. In fact, it’s the thesis: fame as perfume and fog.
“Out of the Blue.” Deep-house nostalgia with a cinematic drop; the arrangement accelerates from dream state to crisis, documenting betrayal as a sudden riptide. However, the chorus refuses victimhood, choosing propulsion over collapse.
“Good Girl.” Tongue-in-cheek defiance riding a crisp, radio-bright groove. Snappy snares, rubbery bass, and a sly lyric about boundaries make it a summer stomp that winks while it bites.
“Lost In You.” The tempo softens; reverb blooms; SOZI sings from the quiet margin where devotion melts into surrender. The mix leaves air around each phrase, letting vulnerability glow instead of bleed.
The EP’s architecture is meticulous—peaks placed for communal lift, valleys preserved for private breath. In addition, the production’s tactile detail (hi-hat filigree, side-chained swells, faint guitar halos) keeps every emotion embodied rather than abstract. DREAM ultimately feels like waking from a beautiful fantasy with the wisdom to keep the light: glitter on your skin, clarity in your chest, and the courage to dance forward.
